Favorite Family Photos: Climbing the Daisekkei
In late summer of 2010, Luke and I hiked for three days in Hakuba, in the mountains near where the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics were held. It was an amazing trip that yielded many awesome photos, but this one stands out: a shot of Luke climbing the Daisekkei, the largest field of year-round snow in Japan. It was like hiking up a ski slope, only in high heat and humidity. It was a slippery and sometimes scary experience, but Luke handled it very well. He wore crampons, which really helped.

These are our best and most precious memories.
